What's new in Élysée 5.51

This version 5.51 differs from version 5.50 only by correcting a problem that appeared on Linux with the so-called Snap version of certain browsers, which now refuse to open Html pages whose path includes a folder name preceded by a dot. With the consequence that Élysée, which runs on Linux thanks to the excellent Wine program, can no longer open its help pages and the pages of its Internet menu. I have therefore added, in the Linux and Mac versions only, a small option to change the path of all these Html pages. The option is activated in the general preferences, on the Help = Error! page. I hope that this will solve the problem for users who have experienced this mishap. Note that the Windows version does not need such an option.

A new option for prepared games

When practicing with prepared games, we sometimes want to replay the deal (using the button or the F2 shortcut), without seeing the comment (which gives some indications for obtaining the best result). This is now possible thanks to the In a prepared game, display the comment only after the comparison option, which can be enabled in the general preferences on the Play page. Note that even if the comment is not displayed, clicking on the message bar at the bottom of the window can display it if needed.

Authorization to distribute Élysée starting with version 5.50
In response to requests from several webmasters wanting to help spread the word about the software, I have decided, starting with version 5.50 only, to authorize the free distribution of the installer of Élysée, provided it is neither modified nor sold. The drawback of this type of distribution is that the sites wanting to help generally fail to update the version they distribute. And over time, they end up presenting a very old version, which can damage the software's reputation. To remedy this, starting with version 5.50, I have added a local HTML page that opens the first time a new version is launched. This page presents my site and displays an image indicating the number of the latest available version. I hope this will reduce the drawback of this distribution which is very nice, but which risks freezing the level of the program while it can still progress. Any version prior to 5.50 also opens a page presenting my personal site, while pointing out that the third-party site that distributes it does so illegally.
